Get Fit with New Friends – Student Spotlight on Christine

Continuing the Spotlight on our Fantastic Students: Here is the next in our series:
My Aradia Journey
Before I started pole dancing I could barely do a pull-up to save my life. After a few short months, I’m the strongest I’ve ever been, and I actually look forward to working out! I never had fitness goals before I started pole, but now I’m so excited to see which tricks and moves I can master next.

One of my goals this year was to put my polesilks up by myself & I have!  (albeit somewhat sloppy knot ~ it’s my baby!)

The Benefits of Pole – Personal Perspective from a Medical Esthetician

Written By Hannah Le – August 2015

I’m a medical esthetician, hence, to me health, beauty and fitness are the most important aspects of life, especially my type of business. Among those three, fitness is the most critical factor, without it, it’s difficult to stay healthy and beautiful. Since I started attending the acupuncture program, I have found out I am lack to yang energy which is the energy that keeps us active, hence, I feel tired and sleepy during the days. This syndrome is also prone to cause edema and obesity. I’m supposed to get acupuncture treatment every other day to help balance my energy and regulate blood, body fluid, but haven’t got time for myself.
However, since I started pole fitness three times a week, 2 – 3 hours each time, my yang energy has raised up, I feel energized and active all the time without taking any naps during the day. This is a huge improvement for my health. I also notice my skin is glowing with pink undertone, I no longer look pale and lifeless. Besides, when you sweat more, your body is able to go through a detox process, hence less chance of getting breakouts. Working out also helps regulate body fluid, moisten the muscles, and hydrate the skin, therefore, your skin ages much slower. And obviously, the more you work out, the quicker you get your dream body.
I have tried most of the workout I’ve heard about, but nothing is like the pole experience. When putting your mind into accomplishing a move, you forget you’re working out. That’s what I love most about pole fitness, building your strength without feeling bored of the same motions.
If you are beginner, and would like to build up strength quickly, I recommend you to attend at least 3 times a week, as little as an hour each time. This would help condition your muscles and strength. Besides, it will start you with a good workout habit. Do your best and don’t rush!!! Those are my tips for beginners. Trying to keep that in the back of my mind, is hard. Resisting wanting to know all the moves; but try to relax. Do your best. You’ll get there before knowing it 

Just in Time for Summer

Now is the time to clean up the eating to prepare for summer months. Sadly we have no control over how the economy has been handled, what epidemics are traveling through our air or food system. We can not even control when the sun rises. Contrary to what our children and husbands expect us to be able to control. The one thing we have total control over is input output with our own bodies.

That is where it becomes very important that we make the right choices what we do as input and what we do as output.

You need to have some type of physical relief be it walking, running, weight lifting or group classes. You already know about Aradia fitness and how much fun working out can be with a bunch of other women now lets work on the other aspect of this equation.

It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to loose just one pound of fat. With that in mind working out and then saying well I can have that one little muffin today I ran for 30 minutes will only be a down ward battle. For example the average women running for one hour at 135 pounds would burn 300 or so calories a muffin can be from 240 to 400 calories depending on the type of muffin you choose. That to me seems to be working against any healthy goals. Don’t get me wrong I believe very strongly in letting yourself have cheat meal once a week. But that does not mean pig out meal that is still normal portions and keep in mind that you still have to account for it the next day.

Let’s try for one week to eat as clean as you can. It really actually tastes good you will be surprised. I have given a few examples in the last few months of menu planning so that should be some assistance while trying this. Here are the rules.

Fruit – fresh or flash frozen

Vegetable – Fresh or Flash frozen

Bread – Whole-wheat or equivalent

Dairy products –no processed

Meat – Must have legs – wings – or fins if it could not fly swim or run and is processed it is not in the list.

I want you to use that rule to make a week menu and try it. You will be surprised how much better you feel and fresher your food tastes. We care about you and will and want to help.
